Our Story
We’re a family business based in Rye, East Sussex, England. Our own Huutt collection is about celebrating fine craftsmanship that bears the hallmark of a luxurious standard of finish. We want to make a difference by creating, characterful heirloom pieces that will joyfully stand the test of time – whilst sharpening the lens on natural, sustainable fabrics and championing the latest technical innovations with recycled yarns. Our
collaborations with other designer-makers and carefully curated brands, aim to convey a relaxed, blended contemporary coastal and country interior style – a trigger for that wonderful feeling of calm and well-being in the home.
What is Huutt?
Huutt is our own, made-up quirky little word. For us, it’s become an important leimotif that signifies the idea of ‘home’. Huutt gives a gentle nod to the basic architectural concept of ‘shelter’, a reminder that home is where we create and celebrate our own special sanctuary.
Green Huutt
Huutt’s first shop is now open in the ancient town of Rye, in East Sussex. The wonderful wilderness of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is only a few kilometres away. This extraordinary place preserves the rare habitats for hundreds of endangered species. Up close with nature, experiencing the interplay with the changing seasons, is where we seek inspiration for our designs and fabrics.
Let's make a difference - AND give back. Working closely with renowned fabric partners and textile designers, we're here to champion natural, innovative eco-luxe fabrics in our new Eco Huutt collections. For every armchair you select in an Eco Huutt fabric - we'll donate £25 to the Sussex Wildlife Trust. For each sofa upholstered from the EH range, we'll give the charity £50. *Donations are processed in association with the fundraising platform, Work for Good.
Natural FillingsAll Huutt’s furniture frames are FSC certified and come with a 15-year guarantee. Fillings are now 100% natural or made from recycled materials.
Crafted InteriorsOur collections of bespoke sofas, armchairs, footstools and headboards are all handmade in Derbyshire, the historical hub of the British upholstery industry. We’re extremely proud to work within this close-knit community of independent workshops – not factories. Huutt’s frame makers and upholsterers are truly master crafts people, at the very top of their game, many of whom have spent decades honing their skills.
